Pascoa!!! / Easter!!!

Portuguese and then English!!!

Oi gente! Hoje vou começar com português porque é sexta feira santa, e hoje é dia de familia pra mim... Dia de assistir "Jesus Christ Super Star" com mamãe e Daniel...dia de ler a bíblia e pensar no significado deste dia... Ressureição. Hoje acordei antes das 8 (milagre!!!), e estava tao quente que fui beber uma limonada (limonada=terapia e amor), cozinhei banana da terra e tomei um banho gelado pra ver se melhorava (mas realmente está quentisssimo aqui!). Tomei meu café da manhã ouvindo a o belo canto e musica dos funcionarios da EFA fazendo yoga e meditando no andar de cima...Agradeço ao Tommy por ter me convidado a fazer parte. Meditar é bom pra pensar, rezar, agradecer, e muito do que eu preciso fazer aqui...

Desejo muita paz, amor, chocolate (para todos aqueles que tem essa tradiçao, eu já pedi Sonho de Valsa pro vovô e vovó) e muita praia para os locais aqui, que gostam de praia poucas vezes por ano (pascoa, ano novo e outras festas...)

Tambem dedico este blog a tolerancia e respeito por diferenças culturais e a liberdade de religião. Muitos paises tem uma religião oficial, ou pelo menos uma maioria...Na Serra Leoa vivem muçulmanos e cristãos lado a lado e o pais adotou os dias santos das duas religiões... Eu cheguei segunda feira, no final de um longo fim de semana por que foi o aniversario do profeta Maomé... E este fim de semana é de novo longo, porque é a Pascua da Ressureição...

Ontem almoçamos todos na EFA juntos, (como vocês vão ver nas fotos), e eu comecei finalmente a botar a cabeça na razão pela qual estou aqui, meu trabalho! Estou em contato com meu orientador na Suecia e planejando tudo direitinho...Ao mesmo tempo tenho que aplicar pro que seja que quero fazer o proximo semestre...Masters? Trabalho durante o verão? ufff.... Hoje viajo pro leste da Serra Leona, pra reserva natural da Ilha Tiwai (http://www.efasl.org.uk/tiwai/). E durante o fim de semana , acho que amanha, continuamos pra Liberia, até Monrovia... Ahi vou observar os projetos que a EFA tem para educação de crianças sobre o meio ambiente, e trabalhar com eles no deselvolvimento de mensagens para crianças na escola... muito interesante!!!

Bom familia e amigos, nao sei quando vou ter internet de novo mas tão logo seja possivel prometo escrever de novo...

Hi friends! Today I started in portuguese because today is good friday, and this for me is a day for family...A day to watch "Jesus Christ Super Star" with mom and my little brother Daniel... a day to read bits of the bible and think about the true meaning of this day. Resurrection. This morning I got up before 8 (miracle!!!), it was really hot so I made myself some therapeutic lemonade (lemonade=love from mom) and cooked some plantane bananas, drank coconut water and took a shower. All of this to the sounds of beautiful yoga chanting. Upstairs were some of the EFA staff chanting, singuing and meditating, before starting their heavy day of work... Thank you for inviting me this morning Tommy.

I wish today and for this weekend much love, inner peace, chocolate to all of you who have that tradition (I´ve asked my grandparents in Brazil to save me some Sonho de Valsa chocolate hehe), and lots of beach to all Salonians who have that tradition...

I also dedicate todays blog to tolerance and respect for cultural and religious differences. Lots of coutries have an oficial religion, or at least a vast majority...In Sierra Leone one finds muslims and christians living side by side, and the country has even adopted the holidays and wholy days of both religions... I arrived on monday and it was the end of a long weekend because it was profet Mohammed's birthday...This weekend its a long one again because of Easter...

Yesterday everyone had lunch together at EFA (you´ll see in the pictures) and I began to finally put my head in place and work on the reason for why Im here. The first days were tough but after the 4th day Im good to go! I am in touch with my orientator (do you say that???) in Sweden and developing the interviews and methods that will be used. Im also having to decide what to do next semester, and the deadline for applying to anything is the 15th of April. So what to do? Masters? Will I work during the summer?....uffff... Today we travel to the east of Salone, to Tiwai Island reserve (http://www.efasl.org.uk/tiwai/) to observe and learn about one of the environmental campaigns they had there. And then move on during the weekend to Liberia's capital city, Monrovia... I have been invited to go observe EFAs projects with education of children with environmental messages...so interesting!!!

Well friends and family, I think you´ve had enough for the day. I dont know when I will have internet again but promiss to write asap!
